What Your Child Will Learn This Month
Literacy
- Letter sounds A, B, and C, paired with guided writing practice. Sound-first approach — children hear and produce the sound before the letter name is drilled. Fruit and vegetable vocabulary used as sound-anchor words (Apple for A, Banana for B, Carrot for C).
- Child produces the correct sound for A, B, and C when shown the letter. Child names at least one word starting with each sound. Child attempts guided tracing of A, B, C.
Numeracy
- Number recognition and counting 1, 2, and 3, with matching writing practice. One-to-one correspondence — touching each object once while counting — is the key mechanic this month.
- Child counts a set of up to 3 objects with correct one-to-one correspondence. Child recognises the numerals 1, 2, and 3. Child attempts guided tracing of 1, 2, 3.
Fine Motor
- Week 1: cloth folding. Week 2: buttoning frame. Week 3: playdough rolling. Week 4: puzzle assembly (2–3 pieces).
- Child folds a cloth in half with reasonable alignment. Child manipulates a buttoning frame with some success. Child rolls playdough into a ball or snake shape. Child completes a 2–3 piece puzzle.
Gross Motor
- Week 1: walking on tiptoes. Week 2: kicking a ball. Week 3: balancing on one foot. Week 4: a simple obstacle course integrating all three skills.
- Child walks on tiptoes for a short distance without losing balance. Child kicks a ball toward a target. Child balances on one foot for 2–3 seconds. Child completes a simple obstacle course independently.
Sensory
- Week 1: nature play. Week 2: sand play. Week 3: water play. Week 4: pretend play — rotating through the sensory categories established in Months 1–2.
- Child engages purposefully in each week's free-play category for a sustained period without adult redirection.
Creative
- Fruit and vegetable themed art activities connecting the GA theme to creative expression.
- Child completes the art activity with recognisable fruit/vegetable shapes or colours.
Well-being
- My classroom rules — 2–3 simple, positively framed rules. Buddy system — pairing with a consistent friend. Follow the line — queuing and transition discipline. Safe space identification — where to sit or rest when overwhelmed.
- Child states at least one classroom rule. Child identifies their buddy by name. Child follows a line during transitions. Child goes to the identified safe space when distressed, with prompting.
General Awareness
- Health is Wealth — fruits and vegetables. Naming, sorting, and describing common fruits and vegetables; simple 'this food helps me grow' framing rather than nutrition detail.
- Child names at least 5 fruits and 5 vegetables. Child sorts food items correctly into fruit/vegetable groups. Child states that eating fruits and vegetables helps their body.
Science
- Child produces the correct sound for letters A, B, and C
- Child attempts guided tracing of A, B, and C
- Child counts a set of up to 3 objects with one-to-one correspondence
- Child recognises numerals 1, 2, and 3
Music
- 'Three Colours in My Indian Flag' and 'Go Go Mango' — the first song connects to national identity and colour recall from Month 2; the second reinforces the fruit vocabulary through rhythm and repetition.
- Child sings along with both songs with recognisable words. Child performs associated actions for 'Go Go Mango.'
Practical Life
- Children care for the fruit and vegetable basket and practise independent line-following at transitions.
- Child returns at least one item to the basket or follows the transition line with growing independence.
